Voyager One is a loudspeaker derived from a twelve-year sound installation project called One Song. It exists because the acoustic research demanded a cabinet that conventional manufacturing could not produce—so we built it from Formula 1-grade carbon fibre, with Focal’s Utopia driver complement, and finished each unit by hand.

The Voyager One uses the Focal Utopia M-series driver complement, paired with the Liminal Voyage crossover — a bespoke design that eliminates cabinet resonant frequencies, allowing a simple 6dB/Oct crossover topology. This approach preserves the best possible phase response across all drivers. The result is a reduction in distortion of more than 25dB, while retaining the full sound stage, dynamic range, and frequency accuracy of the Utopia platform.

Functional Art

The result is a sculptural loudspeaker that performs at the reference level while looking like nothing else in audio. It is not a consumer product. It is a limited production run of eight matched pairs, each signed and numbered.

  • Cabinet: Carbon fibre monocoque, F1-grade fabrication
  • Drivers: Focal Utopia complement
  • Edition: 8 matched pairs
  • Design: Simon Ghahary
  • Derived from the One Song Sound System
